Mark Bittle, CRMS, BFC
Mark Bittle is the Founder and President of Mortgage Innovations, LLC, Capital Connection, LLC and Progressive Impact, LLC. They are companies specializing in the residential, construction, commercial and business development strategies. Mark is active in the National Association of Mortgage Brokers and the Iowa Association of Mortgage Brokers, where he currently serves as president, as well as the legislative lobby and the community. Mark has a diverse educational background including but not limited to: tax savings and employee benefit programs, human resource development, investments, insurance, residential and commercial mortgage loans and financing. Rachel Dollar
Rachel Dollar is a California attorney and recognized expert in the
mortgage lending industry. She is the editor of the acclaimed public
service industry web site Mortgage Fraud Blog (www.mortgagefraudblog.com) which is committed to raising
awareness of the growing problems associated with Mortgage Fraud.
In 2005, she was recognized by Inman News as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Real Estate.
From her earliest involvement in mortgage fraud matters, she has
brought her litigation experience to industry-sponsored forums
nationwide. She is a nationally recognized speaker and frequently
teaches in-house seminars on mortgage fraud issues to lending professionals, QC/QA management and general counsel. Ms. Dollar
acts
in a consultative role on policy and procedure for mortgage lenders
including the creation of lending documentation and direction of quality control practices. She frequently consults with licensing and local, state
and national criminal agencies across the country on mortgage fraud matters. She is sought out regularly by the press to comment on mortgage fraud issues and cases and has contributed to and been quoted in news publications across the country.
Ms. Dollar handles mortgage fraud litigation for lenders on a nationwide basis and has supervised successful complex mortgage fraud and RICO litigation in the federal courts, and complex litigation involving secondary market investors, mortgage insurers, loan servicers, and other financial service companies. She has been involved in the discovery, investigation, resolution and litigation of large-scale fraud schemes nationwide. Her practice includes complex commercial litigation, RICO litigation, secured creditor rights and title insurance litigation with a focus on closing protection letter claims, identity theft and closing agent conduct. She also handles matters concerning broker and fidelity bonds, appraiser and settlement agent errors & omissions policy claims and issues associated with repurchase.
Ms. Dollar is a partner in the law firm of Lanahan & Reilley, LLP where she chairs the firm's Mortgage Banking Group. She is licensed to practice law in California and maintains offices in Santa Rosa, California.
Ms. Dollar is an author of Protect Yourself from Real Estate and Mortgage Fraud a full scope mortgage fraud book that will be released by Kaplan Publishing in August 2007.

John Drake, CRMS
John W. Drake is the managing partner of Total Choice Financial Services, and was co-owner and CEO of Highland Mortgage Acceptance Co. LLC., both located in Batavia, Ohio. Total Choice Financial Services, is a full service mortgage brokerage offering conforming and non-conforming loans, as well as FHA and VA loans.
He was the Chairman of the Education Committee for the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB).
John has been on the OAMB Board of Directors for 11 years serving as Education Chair, President-elect, President in 2002 and 2004, and Immediate Past President twice.
John started in the mortgage industry with First Equity Mortgage, Inc. as a loan officer, and his functions within the industry include Area Builder Manager for Norwest Mortgage, Vice Pres. for Citizens Mortgage, Inc., and State Wholesale Manager for Flagship Capital. Prior to entering the Mortgage Industry John owned and operated Buckeye Building Contractors, Inc. a custom homebuilder, Hunter Development Group, Inc. a land development company, and Tracker Realty, Inc. an Ohio Real-estate Company.

Ruth Faynor, CMC, CRMS
Ruth Faynor owned Sun Coast Mortgage in Englewood, Florida since 1979. The company provided a full range of conventional, sub-prime and commercial loan products. She is recognized as an expert in federal compliance and owns Sun Coast Consultants, providing nationwide compliance and auditing services to the industry. Ruth maintains the professional designation of Certified Mortgage Consultant (CMC) and Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist (CRMS) from the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB). She is an industry consultant for NAMB and has earned the associations designation as a Master Certified Instructor.
Ruth has written several of the NAMB courses and is the author of “NAMBits” which is a two day required training program for all NAMB instructors.
As a member of the Florida Association of Mortgage Brokers, Ruth has served as Chapter President and been a state instructor since 1992. She was honored as the Florida Broker of the Year in 2000 and also received the Meritorious Award, Achievement Award, and Instructor of the Year Award from FAMB.
She has served on numerous NAMB committees and received the NAMB Distinguished Service Award in 2006.
Ruth spends most of her time lecturing throughout the United States, teaching pre-licensing courses at Manatee College where she serves as an adjunct professor and developing new courses for the National Association of Mortgage Brokers.

Courtney Friedel, Regional Product Manager, is a leader in the mortgage industry for more than 8 years. She began with American Residential Funding, restructuring the online assistance for end-user interaction.
From 2001 to 2003, she co-founded Electronic Financing Inc. and led the training programs focusing on streamlining the interactive mortgage process. In 2003, she went to IndyMac bank to focus on high profile accounts (CSD) and demonstrated 500% growth across her accounts. Since 2005, Courtney Friedel has transitioned to Regional Product Manager focusing on Reverse Mortgages.

Since 1986 Marc Friedland has worked for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Currently, Mr. Friedland is the Program/Management Analyst/Compliance Officer in the Operations Division of the Denver Single Family Homeownership Center whose jurisdiction covers 17 states. In this position he is the primary contact for staff and the public on RESPA, compliance issues, audits, and general regulatory matters as well as criminal and civil investigations. Mr. Friedland is also called on to provide expert testimony at criminal trials involving FHA loans.
Prior to this he held the position of Program/Management Analyst/Compliance Officer in the Operations Division of the Office of Housing. At that time the Office of Housing was in the six states in Region 8 and covered both multi-family and single-family housing. In this position he continued to be the contact point for RESPA and other regulatory issues including the sanctions against program participants.

Since October 2002, Laura has been partners with Danny Williams in lobbying at the state level in Colorado where she and Danny have represented a broad base of business clients. Her skills in communications and public relations have led to successful representation of her clients before the Colorado General Assembly on a wide variety of issues. She has worked in all aspects of the political process from developing conceptual ideas for legislation to preparing language to discuss with bill drafters and seeking sponsors for bill introduction. She has also prepared testimony for both herself and her clients to be given before legislative committees of reference.

Ben Slayton
In January 1998, Ben established QC-MAC with his partner and wife to provide quality control services to the mortgage banking industry.
Today, QC-MAC is the 3rd largest Quality Control Firm in the country specializing in providing Quality Control, Post Closing and Regulatory Compliance services to the Mortgage Industry.
Ben is a regular on the speaker’s tour giving presentations on Mortgage Quality Control and Compliance issues as well as “What to expect when HUD comes to Inspect” and “How to become an Approved HUD/FHA Loan Correspondent Lender”. You have most likely read some of his articles that have been published in most of the mortgage industry publications such as The Broker, The Scotsman Guide and The Mortgage Press. He also writes a column titled “Ask the QC-Xperts” that is published in the Mortgage Press.

Susan Thayer
A graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, Susan has been an entrepreneur since the age of 25. Focusing mainly in franchising, Susan was part of the Area Franchise Team for Mail Boxes Etc./The UPS Store from 1992 - 2005 in Colorado, New Mexico, and El Paso, TX. With over 140 franchised locations in that territory, she served on the national Profit Action Committee (PAC), as well as serving in many rolls for the local Advertising Association, including handling a budget of over half a million dollars per year. As a franchise owner, Susan owned and operated many Mail Boxes Etc. franchise units in New Mexico and Colorado. In 2001, she and her husband Steve added the Sport Clips Area Development franchise to their plate. In 6 years, they sold and opened 25 franchised locations, including 2 of their own, across Colorado, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas. Susan served on the Team Leader Advisory Council (TLAC) and the national Marketing Advisory Council (MAC), and currently with her husband, own one of the top producing Sport Clips locations in the country. For the past 6 years, Susan has taught Leadership training to the Managers and owners of Sport Clips, as well as focused on the marketing and operations of the franchise. An up and coming speaker, Susan has most recently presented at the Colorado Marketing Educators Association (CMEA) Annual Meeting as well as at many High Schools and Jr. High Schools throughout Colorado.

Director of the Division of Real Estate. The Division of Real Estate is responsible for the oversight of 45,000 licensed real estate brokers, 5,500 licensed real estate appraisers and will begin registering mortgage brokers in October of this year. Ms. Toll will over see an annual budget of approximately $3.3 million and a staff of 35.
